Macadmins with security needs have turned their attention to osquery, which was released as open source by Facebook about a year ago.
Once a new tool becomes available, it takes time to see a widespread adoption. In late September 2015, Zentral was announced in a tech preview and it was released shortly after as one of the few open source solutions to manage osquery configurations for client devices. 
Zentral is a Django based server, build in a modular way. It will not only process criteria centrally discovered by osquery for mac and linux clients, but it also enables you to distribute policies for another Mac security focused open source tool named Santa, which is released by the Mac Operations team at Google.
A response to security related issues should be immediate and precise in respect to the level of information send to the addressee. 
Zentral gives you the power to bundle osquery and santa into Probes, push information where it needs to go, and start remediation with precisely stored details where needed. Notifications will range from TeamChat, Ticket systems, Push Notifications, SMS and more.
Existing inventory information is sourced for JAMF and munki managed clients from JSS or Sal. Time series visualization capabilities are added for inventory and all events stored for osquery and santa. You can use this to detect time correlations or conduct postmortem investigations.
The talk will give you an overview to osquery and santa along with insights on how Zentral works and it's modular architecture is build. We will also reveal our latest additions to the Zentral open source project and hope to gain your interest and participation.
